Phyllis Jane (Morris) Davis

Graveside services for Phyllis Jane Davis will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Healdton, Oklahoma Reverend Dan Patman.  A time of visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday evening, February 1, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Laurel Funeral Home, 665 Fifth Street, Healdton, Oklahoma (580) 229-1221.

Phyllis was born, Sunday,  August 11, 1940 at home in Prague, Oklahoma to Orville B. and Velma Huff Morris and died Friday, January 27, 2023 in Marietta, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 16 days. There were many facets to Phyllis’s life and the following is just a snippet of what she was all about.  She adored animals, not only would she take care of her own pets, but she took care of many strays.  She would donate resources and money to local shelters and organizations like the ASPCA.  One of her many passions was yard work and tending to her big garden.  She loved the feel of dirt between her fingers. She volunteered her time at Mercy Hospital in Healdton.  She enjoyed doing word search puzzles.  She had a big heart and showed compassion and love to all.  She never met a stranger…she could and would talk to anyone and by the time the conversation was over, she would know them as a long-time friend.  She had a beautiful smile and a laugh that would light up a room.  Because of her short stature, sometime the only way to find her in a store was to hear her laugh! She loved her family and friends.  She always looked out for them and was there when she was needed.  You always see her with her sister Gwen (they were known as Thelma and Louise) running around town and causing trouble.

Phyllis and Richard Juaquin Davis, Sr. were married on May 7, 1960 in San Diego, California and had celebrated 67 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on June 22, 2007.  She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Jane “Pam” Rice on January 18, 2011; her son-in-law, Steve Rice on October 12, 2017; sister, Gwendoline Jean Treadwell on November 26, 2019 and her brother-in-law, Robert Doyle Treadwell on May 24, 2012.  She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Gardner and her husband, Roy Brown; son, Richard J. Davis, Jr.; grandchildren, Tracy Slawson and her husband Jeff, Brian Rice, Alisa Thompson and her husband Reggie, Jessica Gardner, Whitney Gardner, Linzee Rae Davis and her mother Laressa Davis; great grandchildren, Sailor Slawson, Everly Rice, Emersyn Rice, Makaela Gardner, Quentin Sheppeard, Leslie Harris, Tylan Pickens, Klohe Gomez and Bentley Connor; nephews, Robert, Stephen, Mark and David Treadwell.
