Norma Jean Langley was born September 2, 1929 in Altus, Oklahoma and died Friday January 5, 2024, in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 3 days. The doctors told her parents she wouldn't live through the night but her parents Ruben McDuffy Mize and Gladys Afalya (Odell) Mize took turns at night making sure she kept breathing until she was stronger. She graduated from Zaneis High School May 2, 1949 and went to work at a soda fountain in Ardmore where she met Alvis Leonard Langley of Healdton, Oklahoma and after only three dates Norma Jean and Alvis eloped to Gainesville, Texas and were married August 7, 1949. Norma Jean and Alvis had 4 children: Reica Williams and her husband Walt of Norman, Troy Stephen Langley and his wife Vickie, Sheila Lyon and her husband Marty Lyon of Ardmore, Dane Brian Langley of Sulphur, and a total of 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Norma was an adoring mother and grandmother she loved setting out on the porch playing with her grandchildren.

Norma was a hard worker. She was a fine seamstress; she not only made her clothes and children's clothes but sewed for other people. She was a good cook and made the best Snickerdoodles and best cobbler you've ever tasted, grew gardens, and canned food. She was a babysitter, worked cleaning for many people in Ardmore and worked at J C Penney’s for about 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alvis, parents Ruben McDuffy Mize and Gladys Afalya of Ardmore, sister Betty Jo Woods of Ardmore, sister Bernice Thompson of Oklahoma City, brother Jessie Mize of Ardmore and two granddaughters Desiree and Alyse. Pallbearers are Grandsons: Eli Langley, Adam Langley, Timothy Langley, Phillip Langley, Ruben Langley, and Gregory McCallister.

Norma loved the Lord and her church family and will be greatly missed.
